What Is Charlotte Start-Up Weekend?
Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement that can be found in places such as London, Mongolia, Brazil, and South Africa. On January 24 it will be found in Charlotte, North Carolina helping all local (and not so local) entrepreneurs in their new endeavors.
Its tagline is, “No Talk, All Action. Launch a Startup in 54 hours.” The weekend does just that by bringing together passionate entrepreneurs and established leaders to inspire would-be entrepreneurs to launch their first startup.
How Does It Work?
Each weekend has a similar structure: anyone can come and show off their idea and hear positive criticism from other entrepreneurs and startups. The best ideas begin to form into teams after a popular vote and then the teams have 54 hours to create a business model, and test their skills in coding, market validation, and design.
Whether your idea takes off as one of the more popular startup ideas or you spend some time learning about marketing, website design, or any other aspect of the startup process you can be sure that you’ll leave the weekend better equipped than you were before you came.

The Startup Weekend is jam-packed with opportunities to learn new skills, test out your ideas, and get constructive feedback from your peers. You never know what type of benefit you’ll get from spending a weekend with like-minded people.
