3 TV Shows for Entrepreneurs

tv shows for entrepreneursWho says you can’t learn anything by watching TV? While I’m not a huge TV watcher, there are a few shows that I try to catch or DVR.  One thing they all have in common is that they’re great for entrepreneurs and they definitely provide some inspiration.  So whether you are looking to simply be entertained,  or you need some inspiration be sure to check out these…

3 TV Shows For Entrepreneurs

How I Made My Millions

This is a must watch for entrepreneurs looking for inspiration.  A lot of these companies are huge Fortune 500 companies that you’ve heard of, but there are a lot of little guys on here too.  What I learned from the show is that there are a ton of different ways to make money.  You can be selling pretzels, chapstick, doggy sweaters or marshmallow shooters.  There are always unique and interesting ways to make money.  One episode in particular that sticks out in my mind is Burt’s Bees.  A very cool story.  Check out the episodes here

Everyday Edisons

Everyday Edisons is a really cool show and be sure to check out the website because they have some resources for inventors.  While ‘How I Made My Millions’ is more of a “I started this company”, Everyday Edisons is all about inventions.  People on the show have created everything from cat scratching posts to cement mixers.

As a disclaimer I must say that I do know Louis Foreman, the shows executive producer and lead judge.  That’s how I heard about the show, but its quality content kept me hooked.  Mr. Foreman is also a genius when it comes to inventions and marketing, and his office looks like something Willy Wonka would work in. Very cool stuff!

Shark Tank

This is a short list but I bet you were wondering when Shark Tank was going to be on it.  If for some reason you haven’t heard of Shark Tank, it’s a wildly popular show on ABC and the reruns are setting CNBC ratings records.

Basically entrepreneurs go in front of a group of people (including Mark Cuban, Mr. Wonderful & Barbara Corcoran) and do a short pitch.  From there, one or all of the investors can team up with the entrepreneur.  It is a very cool show and I love when the investors like an idea and invest.  It’s very inspiring, and makes all the hard work us entrepreneurs do seem worth it.

On another note, Shark Tank is looking for entrepreneurs in the Charlotte area.  I’m sure they scout the entire country, but I had this blog post scheduled and when I was doing research for it I came across this from the Charlotte Business Journal.  So if you’re looking to take your business to the next level, go prove it in front of a very intimidating group, and good luck!!

Next time you sit down in front of the tube to veg out, why not take advantage of your free time.  Get inspired and learn something by checking out these 3 great TV shows for entrepreneurs.
