What better way to unwind with the kids after a full day of holiday shopping than by going to see a spectacular light display? The Charlotte area is a great place to find numerous events such as holiday crafts, lights, and visits from Santa – you just need to know where to look! That’s why we’ve put together this list of some of our favorite holiday events in the area this season.
Speedway Christmas
One of the largest and most interesting holiday light displays in the area is the Speedway Christmas at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. With over 3 million lights and more than 800 LED light displays, it’s quite the spectacular event. If the impressive light display is not enough to convince you, just consider the other fun holiday events such as the live Bethlehem Village, petting zoo, and activities in Santa’s workshop. Not only that but there are even movie nights on every Friday and Saturday night throughout the month with classics such as A Christmas Story and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Admission is $15 per car when the Christmas Village is closed and $20 per car when it’s open. For more information visit Charlotte Motor Speedway.
McAdenville Christmas Lights
Looking for a full Christmas town experience for the whole family? The small town of McAdenville is known for its excellent lights show every holiday season. Nearly every business, home, and street is covered with decorations such as garland, lights, and wreaths. The best part of this holiday rite of passage? It’s completely free! Visit Christmastown for more information.
Holidays at the Garden
The Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden hosts several holiday events for families to enjoy. Whether it’s a nature walk, s’mores by the fire, crafts, carriage rides, or even a visit from Santa, there is something for everyone this holiday season. A beautiful Christmas tree created by using hundreds of orchards completes the scene of this magical Christmas event. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $6 for children. Be sure to visit Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden for more information.
Downtown Mooresville’s Holiday Light Spectacular
Another great free event is in downtown Mooresville. Music, visits from Santa, walks down Christmas Tree Lane, wagon rides, and lots more make this a great event for families looking to unwind after a busy day of holiday shopping. The event is completely free but donations of canned goods are encouraged. Held on Broad and Main Streets in Mooresville. Be sure to visit Downtown Mooresville for more information.
Whether you’re looking for a spectacular holiday event to enjoy this holiday season or something a bit more low-key to help you appreciate this joyful time of year, there is something for everyone in the Charlotte area. Happy Holidays from Your-Office Ballantyne!
