What Makes a Company a Great Place to work?
It’s all fine and good to say that a company is one of the best places to work, but what exactly does that mean? There are numerous ways to look at what gives certain companies an edge over their counterparts when it comes to their employees, but generally speaking the best companies have similar things in common. These include:
-Treating Employees Fairly and Like Adults.
Companies that are consistently ranked highly are the types that offer appropriate salaries and benefits as well as other less-common essential such as paid parental leave. They tend to avoid layoffs at all costs and assume that their employees are capable of managing their own time. They openly share information with their employees and actively seek out employee input and ideas at every turn.
-Respecting the Work-Life Balance.
It’s completely unreasonable for companies to assume that their employees’ jobs are their whole life and yet it is disturbingly common. Companies that rank highly for employee satisfaction are those that understand that sometimes aspects of their employees’ lives need to take precedence over their work lives. Allowing some give and take in the area of work-life balance leads to much more satisfied employees and an overall more productive workforce.
