Charlotte is well known for its numerous cultural and artistic events and, thanks to its naturally temperate weather, there is something for everyone year-round. Here are a few of the more interesting events that will take place this year in the Charlotte area.
St Patrick’s Day Parade
This year will see the nineteenth annual St Patrick’s Day Parade as well as the Charlotte Goes Green Festival. With everything from flags and floats to Irish music and a Celtic Kids Zone there is something for everyone. Last year there were over 70,000 spectators and this year promises to host even more! So if you’re looking for a day to celebrate all things Irish, enjoy some great Irish food, and watch awesome performances by Irish dancers be sure to stop by on Saturday, March 14 you’ll be glad you did!
Springfest
Charlotteans know how to celebrate the return of Spring in style. As the weather begins to warm up in April, the residents of the Queen City love to head outside for Springfest! Located in Uptown Charlotte this event is held over the course of three days at the very beginning of the Spring season. Featuring a variety of street performers, street vendors, live entertainment, as well as food stalls there is something for everyone to celebrate the return of the warmer days.
Carolina Renaissance Festival
Held at the beginning of fall, the Carolina Renaissance Festival is a great way to spend some good quality, family fun in the Charlotte area. With such notable attractions as the Jousting Tournament and an extensive arts and crafts marketplace the Carolina Renaissance Festival is a blast for all ages. There is even a Feast that features period foods so that you can really feel as if you’ve stepped back in time to one of the most interesting time periods in history.
NCAA Tournament
This March 20th and 22nd, hosted by the University of North Carolina, the 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship Second/Third Rounds will be held at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Fastgrass Bluegrass Festival
Southern summers in Charlotte are renowned for good food, warm hospitality, and of course great music. With some of the best Bluegrass players in the region, the Fastgrass Bluegrass Festival is a family-friendly event that has hosted the likes of James King, the Grascals, Audie Baylock & Redline, and Darrell Webb. So if you want to experience a genuine, southern, summer festival be sure to stop by this June for the Fastgrass Bluegrass Festival in Charlotte!
Charlotte Knights Home Opener
Baseball fans in Charlotte love to come out and support their home team throughout the season at the BB&T Ballpark. On Thursday, April 9 the Charlotte Knights will kick off the 2015 season at 7:05pm against the Norfolk Tides. Come on out to support our Knights at the start of another great season this April!
