Hands-On Cooking Class

For a twist on Mother’s Day Brunch, try this hands-on cooking class with Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen! From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Atherton Farmer’s Market, Chef Alyssa sets up groups of four to work together to create this gluten-free meal. Menu includes smoked chicken and vegetable hash with a poached egg, coconut granola with fresh berries, and orange ricotta pancakes with sorghum syrup. Chef Alyssa demonstrates cooking techniques, walks around to answer questions, and provides one-on-one instruction. Afterwards, everyone sits to enjoy the meal they just created.

Wing Haven Gardens and Bird Sanctuary

Created to be a bird habitat in 1927, Wing Haven Gardens and Bird Sanctuary rests on just under three acres in Charlotte. The garden provides shelter, nesting sites, food, and water for wildlife. On Sunday from 1-5 p.m., enjoy a guided tour of the garden with sightings of birds and wildlife. Purchase tickets through May 8th; tickets are good for Saturday and Sunday Mother’s Day weekend.
