Nutcracker in Ballantyne office spaceAs we get closer to the holiday season (and it finally begins to feel like winter, somewhat), it’s time to get out and experience the festivities in Charlotte. Whether you want a family-friendly activity, to see some beautiful lights, or even need to get some shopping done, Charlotte has a ton of events for the entire family this season!

Vintage Charlotte Winter Market

On Sunday, November 24th, check out the Vintage Charlotte Winter Market at The Fillmore, located at 820 Hamilton Street in Charlotte.

With over 60 vintage vendors and food and drink available for purchase, shoppers will get a free Oatly tote and Our State magazine while supplies last. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a $2 entry fee, but if you want to get there early, you can get in at 10 a.m. for a $7 entry fee.

WinterFest 2019 at Carowinds

Carowinds creates an epic winter wonderland during the holiday season with their WinterFest, which opens on Sunday, November 24th, and will run select Thursdays through Sundays in December.

Come and see five million lights, a 70-foot tree, live shows and performers, and participate in holiday activities such as ice skating and cookie decorating. Some rides will also be open for your enjoyment!

There’s also a nightly Wonderland Parade with floats, performers, and, of course, an appearance by Santa.

Winter Wonderland Light Show at Phillips Place

Take the kids and enjoy a free light show at 6800 Phillips Place Court. There are two shows each night, beginning at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 5th and 12th.

The first 300 kids per show will get free goodie bags. There will also be a balloon artist, face painting, Santa, elves, and snow!

The event is free and also offers free parking with a free shuttle to the light show.

Ice Skating at SouthPark

Enjoy the brisk winter air at Charlotte’s open-air ice skating rink in SouthPark at 4400 Sharon Road. Afternoon snow happens daily, and you and the whole family can enjoy holiday lights, decorations, live music, Santa, and other holiday characters.

The SouthPark ice skating rink is open for the 2019-2020 season on November 29th at 11 a.m. Admission is free all day every day, but you will have to pay to skate. They also offer season passes!

Winter Wonderland: A Holiday Showcase

Need to get some holiday shopping done? Come check out the holiday music showcase on Sunday, December 15th from 2-6 p.m. at 500 West 32nd Street in Charlotte.

You can get holiday portraits taken, shop for gifts from small local businesses, see Santa, and even take advantage of a gift wrapping station. Vendors will include those offering food, art, toys, jewelry, health and wellness products, crafts, and much more.

General admission is free!
