With rising temperatures and flowers in full bloom, it is no wonder so many Charlotteans are looking to get outdoors this spring. The Queen City is a great place to be during any time of the year, but tourists will particularly love visiting Charlotte in the springtime. Whether you are hoping to enjoy a cold craft beer on a patio or take a tour of a famous plantation, Charlotte has plenty of spring activities for everyone to enjoy.

Soul of the South Uptown Food Tour

Don’t miss this walking Southern food tour that lets you sample foods that represent the South! On April 15th, the tour will take you through Uptown Charlotte as chefs and restaurant owners give insight into the Southern heritage featured in their cuisine. While some are brand new creations, others come from family tradition. No matter where they originated, we promise you that your taste buds won’t be disappointed.

SUNDAY FUN DAY! Craft Galaxy

Prepare for some family fun on April 17th at the Mint Museum where kids can take part in fun 2D and 3D activities that were inspired by the contemporary craft collection. The Craft Galaxy event will also have family-friendly art projects, artist demos, and Let’s Move! yoga sessions. Children and Mint members get in free!

Rosedale Garden Tour

On May 1st, the Historic Rosedale Plantation (also known as “Charlotte’s best kept secret”) will show 25 lucky participants around the beautiful grounds of the plantation, including the Duke Mansion and the Elmwood, Pinewood, and Potter’s Field cemeteries. Wine and cheese will be provided in the formal garden and guests will be able to purchase heirlooms and plants of interest. Best of all, the knowledgeable Dr. Larry Mellichamp, past director of UNC Charlotte’s Botanical Gardens, will be giving you the exclusive tour.

Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival

Get your friends together for a day full of beer sipping, bourbon tasting, and great BBQ on May 7th at Symphony Park. The best BBQ vendors in town will be at the Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival, so remember to bring your appetite. Your admission buys you an all-you-can-taste sampling of beer and bourbon, so make sure to pace yourself and have fun!

Kenny Chesney Concert

Calling all country fans—Kenny Chesney will perform live at the PNC Music Pavilion on May 20th in North Carolina! The country crooner is set to release his new album, Some Town Somewhere, in July and this concert is sure to get fans excited for the release.

The Dry Tri

If you are a triathlete or just have a love of paddling, the Dry Tri is calling your name. On May 28th, this event will take competitors paddling 1.25 miles around Sadler Island on the Catawba River, biking for 8 miles, and running 5 miles through the USNWC’s trail system. Whether you go solo or with friends, this event is perfect to get yourself out there and feeling accomplished this spring.
